Narrative Storytelling

Script Basics

Acts
Most scripts breakdown into 3 acts.
Beginning - set up the story
               Middle - create the conflict
               End - resolve the conflict

Plot Points
Key events that change or greatly complicate the action, and keep the story moving forward in a new direction.
                      Opening Scene/ Life Balance
                      Catalyst/ Big Event
                      Climax/ Resolution
Scenes
A dramatic unit that defines the setting in which the action takes place. It tells whether a scene is interior or exterior, the location and time.
INT. - Bedroom - Morning

Beats
Markers for changes in character relationships and story situations within a scene.
